Fibromyalgia , How to manage Fibromyalgia?

By the current understanding Fibromyalgia is a syndrome of central nervous system when the inhibitory pathways in our nervous system are not able to inhibit the sensory signals that in turn get over activated or translated as pain signals. Basicaly our ability of naturaly control and manage sensory signals becomes less. There are many medications approved for Fibromyalgia like Lyrica or Cymbalta and many more to come in future, but the real management of Fibromyalgia is through life style adjustments. It is important to keep a regular plan of exercise, meditation and proper diet. Positive thinking and relaxation exercises are important. We don't need to spend large amounts of money to go for these treatments. There are many online resources that can be used to learn all these self management ways. Once a Fibromyalgia patient gets used to doing these activities then the nervous system would gradualy adapt itself into a more functional state. It is a very difficult struggle and at the end, the answer comes from inside, not from the doctor.

  1. Have you heard of chiropractic? It's a form of alternative medicine that is great for treating fibromyalgia, among other things. I have to agree that dealing with it should start with a healthy lifestyle, though.

  5. Currently, there is no cure for fibromyalgia. But there are many steps you can take to understand your condition and manage your symptoms. Treatment is focused on managing pain, fatigue, depression, and other symptoms common in fibromyalgia in an attempt to break the cycle of increased sensitivity to pain and decreased physical activity. Every person may respond to a different combination of treatments.

  6. Skyshrouder, those alternative ways are more superstitious than they are scientific. Avoiding pain through constant intake of analgesic, though, is also not advised, whether you just came out of root canal, or have consistent body pains.

  8. For the estimated 10 million Americans living with fibromyalgia, there is nothing “simple” about it. The daily battle with widespread pain, fatigue, and mental fog can be debilitating. Trying to be a productive person under these conditions is a challenge.
