Movement and chronic pain

Many times the first thing we do after an injury is to stop the movement and brace that part of body in pain. It is important to know that many joints like shoulder can become stiff and more painful if braced for a long time. While avoiding mobility may be helpful at early stages of an injury, early mobility is very important to regain the force of muscles and preventing long term stiffness. Please remember that both stopping mobility and start of mobility should be done by physician guidance.

  2. Not only that Michael, the costs of pain can be enormous, especially on pain medications. How about productivity at work and the missed out on family and social activities? Those cannot be quantified, but still affect our daily lives.

  6. Chronic pain may vary, so effectively treating your pain requires a plan just for you. A physical therapist will do a detailed physical evaluation to assess your chronic pain and its effect on your life. It must be done in a proper way, under the supervision of a credible and accredited physiotherapist.
